IKI postpones thematic call to second quarter 2022

Although originally planned for November 2021, the next International Climate Initiative (IKI) thematic selection procedure is postponed for six months and is to take place in May/June 2022.

Although originally planned for November 2021, the next International Climate Initiative (IKI) thematic selection procedure is postponed for six months and is to take place in May/June 2022. This new date for the ideas competition will allow IKI to prepare comprehensively in response to the Conference of the Parties (COP) on the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The rescheduling of the thematic call will enable IKI to focus on funding priorities that reflect the decisions of the international negotiations and provide optimum support for the resulting needs of IKI partner countries, and therefore achieve more effective climate action and biodiversity conservation.

This postponement however, does not simultaneously mean that projects will also be delayed. Instead, IKI will be using the time until the next thematic call to re-adjust the selection procedure and make it shorter, therefore reduce the wait period from outline submission to project approval. This will not only resolve a key issue raised by its implementing organisations but also make IKI more effective.

To improve the quality of the outlines submitted, IKI will again be hosting online seminars following the announcement of the funding priorities. This provides a platform to share key funding information and address our partners’ questions to ensure submission of high-quality project outlines.
