Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH serves the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) in the implementation of funding programmes and projects. ZUG has been listed in the Commercial Register at Bonn District Court since 8 September 2017 and is establishing offices in Bonn and Berlin. It is a wholly-owned federal company; BMU represents the Federal Government as shareholder. ZUG arose from BMU’s evolving role as a funding ministry and, by means of its flexible organisational form, enables the consolidation of non-ministerial responsibilities which fall within the ministry’s remit.

Following its launch in September 2017, ZUG will initially assume responsibility for managing the International Climate Initiative (IKI).

Corinna Enders and Michael Kracht took over the helm at ZUG on 1 January 2018.
