The next round of IKI Medium Grants has begun.
As part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), the German Federal Environment Ministry has published a new call for funding for small-scale projects, with proposals being sought for projects in developing and emerging countries. The IKI Medium Grants programme is seeking out ideas for projects worldwide that focus on adapting to the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change, as well as those projects with a focus on ambitious climate action.
The selection procedure started on 25 February 2021 and the invitation to tender will run until 24 May 2021. A grant of between 300,000 and a maximum of 800,000 euros may be granted per project. Work on projects funded through the programme should be completed within a period of 24 months to a maximum of 36 months, with nofollow-up funding from IKI.. The first phase of the procedure is designed as a call for project ideas, with interested implementing organisations invited to submit innovative project outlines. Project outlines undergo several stages of formal and expert review before being selected. All lead implementing organisations that submitted project outlines will be notified about the outcome of the initial evaluation in writing, with a request that they then submit a detailed project proposal.
Funding objectives
The IKI Medium Grants programme welcomes the submission of applications involving the use of pilot projects and aim at capacity-building in partner countries. The funding priorities are as follows:
- Covid-19 and adapting to the impacts of climate change – promoting resilience in local populations and communities
- Developing, supporting and strengthening participatory processes and methods of ambitious, inclusive climate action
