Paths towards globally fair biodiversity conservation
We would like to recognize this year’s International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May, through a panel discussion on possible paths to achieving effective protection for biodiversity.
During the 15th Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), an ambitious agreement was negotiated to protect the diversity of life on this planet: the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). Clearly, the defined goals can only be achieved by a general overhaul of the global biodiversity conservation to make it more inclusive and fair.
Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGbmH and TMG Research gGmbH would like to address the question of integrating different (especially indigenous) identities and worldviews with conservation measures as well as participatory approaches that emphasise gender equality.
